Snowgoose Mountain Centre has been successfully running all levels of skills based winter mountain courses and mountain guiding for the past 20 years in the Highlands of Scotland with many more years of personal and professional years involved in the mountains world wide. Quite uniquely, John & Tina Cuthbertson, the owner / operators / managers of Snowgoose Mountain Centre have nearly 80 years! of combined mountaineering, paddlesport & sailing experience both in the UK and world wide, in many fields.
Whether you are on the hill or the water the underlying ethos of Snowgoose Mountain Centre is to provide hard core outdoor skills in a friendly, patient and professional manner. This is no matter what the technical level of the course, your previous experience, your ability or aspirations.
We are very proud of our strong ethos for passing on our own longstanding outdoor experiences to others with our passion for independent, confident outdoor living. There is always the opportunity to tailor current course contents to our clients exact requirements in terms of content, ability and future aspirations.
Our winter mountain course staff are all personally experienced and committed winter mountaineers with extensive local knowledge. Nearly all will have gained the Mountaineering Instructors Award (MIC) the highest UK based mountain instruction qualification. At the very least staff will be highly experienced many with overseas experience - with the Summer Mountain leader (SML) Award, Winter Mountain Leader Award (WML) with Single Pitch Award (SPA) usually also with at least Mountain Instructor Award (MIA) Training
While we do advertise scheduled dates for courses, we also are happy run our winter courses on a personalised group or private guiding basis at other times to fit in with when you want where you want what you want for how long you want. See our program of Winter Courses 2007.
We have always been very careful to give value for money on our courses as well as the highest possible standard of customer care and technical instruction. Please feel free to carefully compare our prices the actual number of full instructional days - what we do include or do not include in our overall price structure with other winter course providers. The aim is to give our clients as much price flexibility for their budget.
There are options for either residential self catered accommodation in our family run self catered apartments or bunk style hostel and bunkhouse.

Included in our prices are: - harnesses; helmet; all technical climbing gear such as karabiners, belay plates etc, all survival and safety gear, ropes
Not included in our standard basic prices: -suitable winter boots; ice axe or crampons; map & compass; rucksack; any personal clothing however most of these items can be provided or hired economically from us on site from our stores.
